About Paulos Zeyesus
Paulos Zeyesus (Aba Teklemariam Haylu Gebremikael): though his father called him Teklemariam, his mother and other people prefer to call him ‘Paulos’ by his official name which his mother named him. Paulos’s place of birth is the Northern part of Ethiopia for both of his parents are from this place.
For many years, Paulos had learned the multifunction Deacon service in different orthodox monasteries. Afterward, he studied theology for five years at Addis Ababa theological college. On top of that, he studied other departments of theology for three more years. All in all, he spent 22 years of his life learning spiritual education. He is the founder of the ‘Salvation in Christ’ media ministry.
Autobiography
When I was in theological college, I had a habit of spending summer vacations at monasteries for prayer. One year earlier than my graduation, as usual, I left Addis Ababa for summer vacation. I was in ‘Waldba’ monastery for prayer and fasting to gain my righteousness. One day while I was praying earnestly, I saw a vision of crucified Jesus’s blood coming out of his hands and feet. At that moment, I heard a voice speaking to me: “my son what are you doing here? Leave this place quickly and I will show you what to do.” Three days after the vision, I saw a similar vision and again the voice told me that I have to preach the gospel so that people may save from eternal judgment.
In 2007, I graduated in theology by the hand of the patriarch Abune Gorgorios who ordained me as ‘Melake Mihret’. In addition to this, patriarch Abune Ewostatios ordained me as ‘Melake Genet’. In these positions, I was assigned to administer some orthodox churches in Addis Ababa. Seeing my education and management competencies, the Synods decided to send me to South Africa to administer the ‘Medhane Alem’ church of Johannesburg.
I administered the church for more than a year. Throughout the year, I preached the gospel as much as I had the opportunity. In that year, around 500 people believed in Jesus Christ. Meanwhile, I published my first book called ‘the real faith by the real believer’. Because of the book I wrote and the gospel I preached, the church started to persecute me. I had to leave the church. As I left some of the underground believers also left with me. Yet, the persecution is getting worse. Satan raised evil men to kill me but Lord led me to join a theological seminary for another 4 years.
Preaching and teaching the gospel of Christ to the nations of Ethiopia and Eritrea is our mission. Preaching the gospel to people so that they may believe and make the believers Disciples of Christ is our mission. (Mar 16:15; Mat 28: 19-20).
To attain our vision and mission, we established the ministry called ‘Salvation in Christ’. Thus, we are calling all believers, Ministers, and Christian ministries around the world to join us in our vision and mission. The word of God says, “the dispensation of the fullness of times He might gather together in one all things in Christ.” (Eph 1:10) we invite you to work with us so that nations gather together nations in Christ. The second coming of Christ is very near, though it seems delayed (1Pet 3:9). It is our responsibility to wake up and labor for the great harvest. It is a privilege to be assigned to this great mission. So, let’s march hand in hand and fulfill our mission before the time (Dan 12: 3, Mat 25:14-30). May The Lord help us!
I named my ministry ‘Salvation in Christ’ based on the book of Act which says, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none another name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Act 4:2). I have had the vision to reach the nations of Ethiopia and Eritrea through media networks. This vision was started I was in theological college. Its story is as follows:
4 years after I studied theology, at 3:00 AM, on the day 27/10/2016 I saw a vision. In the vision, I saw people’s clothing changing into white as I was preaching to them. In the meantime, I heard a loud voice saying to me: “be prepared; for I will save more than 2 billion people through this ministry.” I woke up and I wrote what I saw and heard. I was filled with great joy and power. From that day on, I have been preaching the gospel of Christ with courage and power. I have preached in many crusades. People have been watching my ministry through social media and many people have been saved.
Seeing this, Satan raised evil men to kill me. On the day 17/03/2017, I was in a meeting with Eritrean pastor Girmay and Ethiopian pastor Joel at the place called ‘east gate’ (Johannesburg). After the meeting, I was headed to my car. It was then that more than 40 young men from Orthodox Church pointed out a gun to my head and threatened me to denounce my faith. They told me I would be dead unless I confess that:
- The Virgin Mary is a savior
- The Virgin Mary is our mediator.
- Jesus isn’t a Mediator.
- And return the orthodox cassock.
However, I told them in boldness that they can kill me if it is God’s will. And I challenged them:
- Salvation is only through Jesus Christ.
- St. Mary can’t be a mediator.
- Only Jesus is the mediator.
- I will not return the Cossack because I earned it with honor. In the middle of this, fortunately, the police came and took them to the station.
The next day, I was told to come to the station. The chief told me to sign for the deportation of the men. But I rejected the idea and said, “God forbid I will not sign. If these men are deported because of me, where are my rewards from the Lord?” The Chief replied with amusement, “how is that possible to find a minister like an apostle Paul nowadays?” And he released them without any changes.
Another the same incident happened on the day 19/04/2017. I was outside of my house when the hit-men broke and took more than 300 copies of my books. They burned it in the compound of ‘Medhane Alem’ church and posted it on social media (the copy of the video is on this website). Such persecutions are a lot but God has been faithful in protecting me.
Though the persecution continues, with the help of God, I broadcasted my ministry on a Christian television channel called Elshaddai Television Network for one year. It was a successful ministry. However, I understand that I had to reserve myself from publication for a while. Therefore, I started an underground ministry. As much as the opportunities I had, I preached the gospel in many places.
It was in 2018 that I fully engaged with my vision. I registered my ministry and I attained a legal license from the South African government. Since then ‘Medan TV’ is a registered television ministry in South Africa. Since then we broadcast our ministry through Facebook and YouTube. It is very fruitful. So far, we have reached more than 8500 Ethiopian and Eritrea through our programs. Now we are coming up with a satellite television network so that we can reach more. The 24 hours television service will have much coverage and so is the harvest.
